This is the one console in the family that needs this cable. A lead made for the original Xbox 360, or for the Xbox 360 S, will not fit it: both of those consoles use a wide multi-pin AV socket, and the E model dropped that socket and fitted a single 3.5 mm jack in its place. If the AV output on the back of your console is a small round hole rather than a wide slot, this is the right cable.

- For the Xbox 360 E only — the E model replaced the wide AV socket used by the original 360 and the 360 S with a single round 3.5 mm jack, and this is the lead that fits that jack. It will not plug into an original 360 or a 360 S
- Picture and stereo sound down one lead — the yellow plug carries the composite video, the red and white plugs carry right and left audio
- Four-pole 3.5 mm plug with gold-plated contacts — the extra pole is what lets a single jack carry video alongside the stereo pair. The three RCA pins are gold-plated as well
- 180 cm long (1.8 metres) — enough to reach from a console on a shelf or in a cabinet to the sockets on the back of a television
- Plugs straight into the yellow, red and white sockets on any TV, monitor, projector, VCR or capture device — nothing to power and nothing to set up
About this item
The 3.5 mm plug goes into the round AV jack on the back of the console and the three RCA plugs on the other end go into the matching yellow, red and white sockets on your television.
Composite works with any television, monitor, projector, VCR or capture card that has the three coloured RCA sockets, which makes it the practical choice for a CRT, an older flat panel, or a capture setup. There is nothing to configure and nothing to power — plug it in and the console outputs picture and stereo sound straight away.
The lead is finished in black throughout. A moulded splitter carries the single trunk out to the three RCA heads, which are colour-coded yellow, red and white to match the sockets they go into. The 3.5 mm plug carries four contacts rather than the usual three, which is what allows one jack to pass video as well as left and right audio.
